Everyone's Avoiding the Basics...

And here's why you shouldn't...

People will try almost anything before they commit to a balanced diet.

Cutting out entire food groups. A 30-day reset. Eating in a 4-hour window. Whatever showed up on your feed this week. Tracking macros down to the gram for 10 days, then giving up completely.

I see it all the time. Not because people are lazy, but because the extreme stuff feels like progress. It’s new, it’s exciting, and it has a clear start date. The basics don’t have any of that.

That’s the problem. Most of these approaches aren’t really about getting results. They’re a way to avoid doing the simple things, consistently… for a long time.

Here’s what actually works:

  • Eat enough protein. It keeps you full, protects your muscle, and helps you recover. Most people are eating far less than they think.
  • Eat mostly whole foods. Food that looks like it came from a farm, not a factory. Not perfect, just mostly.
  • Control your portions. You don’t have to weigh everything forever. Just know roughly how much you’re eating. Eat a serving size- check the label!
  • Stay consistent. Not perfect. Consistent. The person who does the basics and gets 3-4 workouts in 80% of the time for a year beats the person who does everything perfectly for three weeks and falls off for a month.

None of this is new. None of it will go viral. You’ve probably heard all of it before. But ask yourself honestly: are you doing it? Every day, even when it’s boring? Even when nobody’s watching and there’s no challenge to finish?

The basics aren’t exciting. But they’re effective. And the sooner you stop looking for a shortcut, the sooner you stop starting over.

Pick one of the four above. Do it this week. Then do it again next week.

That’s the whole secret.
