The Minor Slip-Up to Throw-Away Week Pipeline

Why you shouldn't let one little slip-up ruin your entire week!

You didn't ruin your progress by going off plan.

One missed workout, a meal that went sideways, a weekend that got away from you, none of that is significant on its own. Zoom out far enough and a single day barely registers. What does register is the part where one slip turns into a reason to stop trying until Monday, or until the first of the month, or until things calm down at work, as if they ever really do. The original mistake is almost never what does the damage; it's everything that comes after it.

It's worth looking at the belief sitting underneath all of that, because if you've decided somewhere along the line that progress requires doing everything right, then any imperfection will read as failure, and failure means the whole plan is broken and has to be restarted from zero.

That logic pretty much guarantees you'll spend most of your time feeling like you're back at the beginning, no matter how much work you've actually put in.

The people who make steady progress aren't the ones who never slip. They aren't the ones with the most willpower. They're the ones who can have a bad moment and let it stay as that, instead of turning it into evidence about who they are. They show up for the next workout, they make the next meal a reasonable one, and they don't make a whole thing out of it.

There's nothing dramatic about that, which is probably why it gets overlooked. But consistency after the mistakes is what actually moves you forward, and you don't have to wait until Monday to start.
